Teaching London School of Journalism

TV Department, Maida Vale, London, from Feb 03

I also help train postgraduate journalism students to become TV reporters. With autocue, news pieces to camera and interviews. It is immensely satisfying to each time see a new group of journalism wannabes and fledglings fly into the world, ready to transfer stories to our television sets.

Editor London Voice Newspaper

For several years from 2002 I worked as a chief reporter and editor for London Voice Newspaper. Our vision was to create a newspaper appealing to all sections of London’s society. London Voice was the only non-national paper to be circulated in all 33 boroughs.

Camerawork

As a camerawoman I provide, for instance, First Sight Media from Oxford (since 1999). The production company provides films for corporate clients such as Ernst and Young and Atisreal  and subjects such as Professor Dawkins.

Feature writing

I have provided features and photography for, for example, Best Practice Magazine and Trens, Dutch/ English trade publications for the train industry, covering human interest and legal matters integral to best practice in the train industry.

Local news gathering

Newsgathering I learned as a local news reporter in London for a variety of papers; The Archer Newspaper, The Finchley Times and North Magazine (Archant Media).

Working as a news reporter from 2001 for a few years on a community newspaper provided me with invaluable experience in the workings of a community and reiterated for me what I really wanted to do; write real stories about real people.
